Parenting support programme with Diabetes
Two research projects are underway at Manchester University exploring a parenting support programme with Diabetes. The programme is called "Triple P" and has been used worldwide with over 30 years of supporting clinical evidence. It has already been adapted to support parents whose children are living with a range of difficulties, for example, parents of children with asthma. To date Triple P has not been adapted for use with parents of children with Diabetes. The research involves two studies:
- One attempts to establish some of the everyday challenges that are faced by parents of children (aged 11 – 17) with diabetes, and the areas that they consider to be of great importance in managing their child's condition. This involves an online web survey.
- The second study takes the format of a trial, with families being allocated to 1 of 2 groups, the Triple P group or the comparison group.
Both projects have been approved by the University of Manchester's Ethics Committee, and Diabetes UK research department, and summaries of both projects currently appear on the Diabetes UK research website.
Each project is hoping to recruit 100 participants, so if you would like to take part please go to the following link: www.diabetesandparenting.org.uk
